The importance of the Digital Wallet

Digital public wallets are basically an extension on your browser, or app on your phone, that allows you to; among other things; operate with crypto and NFTs.

While adoption is rapidly increasing, getting a digital wallet is for some a bit of a hurdle. We get it!

However, if you don’t have one yet, we are here to offer you the first reason to get yours now: As NFTs become a useful technology (beyond art collections) and start offering things like, ejem; useful digital trophies that certify your win in advertising competitions, you will start to find ways in which a digital wallet can be useful.

We recommend using MetaMask, it’s the most extended one to operate with Ethereum, and Polygon (MATIC). The later being the network used to create NF-Trophys.

Once installed, wallets are the safest and most private way to log-in to webs and services and as web2 evolves to a decentralized model: web3. Wallets will become an indispensable tool.

The process is very simple: download and install the browser extension, you will be given 12 random words called “seeding phrase” it’s important that you keep those in a safe place. Print them, create independent text documents, tattoo them in a place only you can see… Whatever! Just don’t loose them. You will also be asked to setup a regular password.

Once you’ve done that, you will notice a long number at the top of the interface, under the name of your account. That’s your Public Wallet ID, if you want to dig a bit dipper into this topic, this article will help you. But for now; suffice to say that your Public Wallet ID is, by definition: Public. And it’s needed to receive assets like NFT. So, don’t worry nobody can access the content of your wallet with your Public ID.

Metamask is available in the following browsers: Chrome, FireFox, Brave, and Edge. If you don’t use any of these browsers, you can find other wallet options, just make sure that they are available in your browser and can operate using the Polygon (MATIC) network.

Once you’ve done that, you are basically set. There are more things you can do, like download the app to your phone and manage your NFTs from there, you can read an article on that topic here.
